Morals

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

THE TRUE ISLAMIC MORALS

SOME PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY ARE ACTING IN THE NAME OF RELIGION MAY MISUNDERSTAND THEIR RELIGION OR PRACTICE IT WRONGLY. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS A MISTAKE TO FORM ANY IDEA OF THAT RELIGION FROM THE ACTIVITIES OF THESE PEOPLE. THE BEST WAY TO UNDERSTAND ISLAM IS THROUGH ITS AUTHENTIC SOURCE. THE AUTHENTIC SOURCE OF ISLAM IS THE NOBLE QUR'AN; AND THE MODEL OF MORALITY IN THE PROPHETS (PBUH) SUNNAH IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE IMAGE OF IT FORMED IN THE MINDS OF SOME WESTERNERS. THE NOBLE QUR'AN IS BASED ON THE CONCEPTS OF MORALITY, LOVE, COMPASSION, MERCY, MODESTY, SELF-SACRIFICE, TOLERANCE AND PEACE, AND A MUSLIM WHO TRULY LIVES ACCORDING TO THESE MORAL PRECEPTS IS HIGHLY REFINED, THOUGHTFUL, TOLERANT, TRUSTWORTHY AND ACCOMMODATING. TO THOSE AROUND HIM HE GIVES LOVE, RESPECT, PEACE OF MIND AND A SENSE OF THE JOY OF LIFE.

ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE AND WELL-BEING

THE WORD ISLAM HAS THE SAME MEANING AS "PEACE" IN ARABIC. ISLAM IS A RELIGION THAT CAME DOWN TO OFFER HUMANITY A LIFE FILLED WITH THE PEACE AND WELL-BEING IN WHICH ALLAH'S ETERNAL MERCY AND COMPASSION IS MANIFESTED IN THE WORLD. ALLAH INVITES ALL PEOPLE TO ACCEPT THE MORAL TEACHINGS OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN AS A MODEL WHEREBY MERCY, COMPASSION, TOLERANCE AND PEACE MAY BE EXPERIENCED IN THE WORLD. IN SURAT AL-BAQARA VERSE 208, THIS COMMAND IS GIVEN: YOU WHO BELIEVE! ENTER ABSOLUTELY INTO PEACE (ISLAM). DO NOT FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SATAN. HE IS AN OUTRIGHT ENEMY TO YOU. AS WE SEE IN THIS VERSE, PEOPLE WILL EXPERIENCE WELL-BEING AND HAPPINESS BY LIVING ACCORDING TO THE MORAL TEACHING OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN.

ALLAH CONDEMNS MISCHIEF

ALLAH HAS COMMANDED HUMANITY TO AVOID EVIL; HE HAS FORBIDDEN IMMORALITY, REBELLION, CRUELTY, AGGRESSIVENESS, MURDER AND BLOODSHED. THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY THIS COMMAND OF ALLAH ARE WALKING IN THE STEPS OF SATAN, AS IT SAYS IN THE VERSE ABOVE, AND HAVE ADOPTED AN ATTITUDE THAT ALLAH HAS CLEARLY DECLARED UNLAWFUL. OF THE MANY VERSES THAT BEAR ON THIS SUBJECT, HERE ARE ONLY TWO: BUT AS FOR THOSE WHO BREAK ALLAH'S CONTRACT AFTER IT HAS BEEN AGREED AND SEVER WHAT ALLAH HAS COMMANDED TO BE JOINED, AND CAUSE CORRUPTION IN THE EARTH, THE CURSE WILL BE UPON THEM. THEY WILL HAVE THE EVIL ABODE. (SURAT AR-RA'D: 25) SEEK THE ABODE OF THE HEREAFTER WITH WHAT ALLAH HAS GIVEN YOU, WITHOUT FORGETTING YOUR PORTION OF THE WORLD. AND DO GOOD AS ALLAH HAS BEEN GOOD TO YOU. AND DO NOT SEEK TO CAUSE MISCHIEF ON EARTH. ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE MISCHIEF MAKERS.' (SURAT AL-QASAS: 77) AS WE CAN SEE, ALLAH HAS FORBIDDEN EVERY KIND OF MISCHIEVOUS ACTS IN THE RELIGION OF ISLAM INCLUDING TERRORISM AND VIOLENCE, AND CONDEMNED THOSE WHO COMMIT SUCH DEEDS. A MUSLIM LENDS BEAUTY TO THE WORLD AND IMPROVES IT.

ISLAM DEFENDS TOLERANCE AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH

ISLAM IS A RELIGION WHICH FOSTERS FREEDOM OF LIFE, IDEAS AND THOUGHT. IT HAS FORBIDDEN TENSION AND CONFLICT AMONG PEOPLE, CALUMNY, SUSPICION AND EVEN HAVING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS ABOUT ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. ISLAM HAS NOT ONLY FORBIDDEN TERROR AND VIOLENCE, BUT ALSO EVEN THE SLIGHTEST IMPOSITION OF ANY IDEA ON ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. RIGHT GUIDANCE HAS BECOME CLEARLY DISTINCT FROM ERROR. ANYONE WHO REJECTS FALSE GODS AND BELIEVES IN ALLAH HAS GRASPED THE FIRMEST HANDHOLD, WHICH WILL NEVER GIVE WAY. ALLAH IS ALL-HEARING, ALL-KNOWING. (SURAT AL-BAQARA: 256) SO REMIND, YOU NEED ONLY TO REMIND. YOU CANNOT COMPEL THEM TO BELIEVE. (SURAT AL-GHASHIYAH: 22) TO FORCE ANYONE TO BELIEVE IN A RELIGION OR TO PRACTICE IT, IS AGAINST THE SPIRIT AND ESSENCE OF ISLAM. BECAUSE IT IS NECESSARY THAT FAITH BE ACCEPTED WITH FREE WILL AND CONSCIENCE. OF COURSE, MUSLIMS MAY URGE ONE ANOTHER TO KEEP THE MORAL PRECEPTS TAUGHT IN THE NOBLE QUR'AN, BUT THEY NEVER USE COMPULSION. IN ANY CASE, AN INDIVIDUAL CANNOT BE INDUCED TO THE PRACTICE OF RELIGION BY EITHER THREAT OR OFFERING HIM A WORLDLY PRIVILEGE. LET US IMAGINE A COMPLETELY OPPOSITE MODEL OF SOCIETY. FOR EXAMPLE, A WORLD IN WHICH PEOPLE ARE FORCED BY LAW TO PRACTICE RELIGION. SUCH A MODEL OF SOCIETY IS COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO ISLAM BECAUSE FAITH AND WORSHIP HAVE VALUE ONLY WHEN THEY ARE DIRECTED TOWARD ALLAH. IF THERE WERE A SYSTEM THAT FORCED PEOPLE TO BELIEVE AND WORSHIP, PEOPLE WOULD BE RELIGIOUS ONLY OUT OF FEAR OF THE SYSTEM. WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF RELIGION IS THAT RELIGION BE PRACTICED IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE IS PERMITTED, AND THAT IT BE PRACTICED ONLY FOR THE APPROVAL OF ALLAH.

ALLAH HAS MADE THE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE UNLAWFUL

ACCORDING TO THE NOBLE QUR'AN, ONE OF THE GREATEST SINS IS TO KILL A HUMAN BEING WHO HAS COMMITTED NO FAULT:...IF SOMEONE KILLS ANOTHER PERSON - UNLESS IT IS IN RETALIATION FOR SOMEONE ELSE OR FOR CAUSING CORRUPTION IN THE EARTH - IT IS AS IF HE HAD MURDERED ALL MANKIND. AND IF ANYONE GIVES LIFE TO ANOTHER PERSON, IT IS AS IF HE HAD GIVEN LIFE TO ALL MANKIND. OUR MESSENGERS CAME TO THEM WITH CLEAR SIGNS BUT EVEN AFTER THAT MANY OF THEM COMMITTED OUTRAGES IN THE EARTH. (SURAT AL-MA'IDA: 32) THOSE WHO DO NOT CALL ON ANY OTHER DEITY TOGETHER WITH ALLAH AND DO NOT KILL ANYONE ALLAH HAS MADE INVIOLATE, EXCEPT WITH THE RIGHT TO DO SO, AND DO NOT FORNICATE; ANYONE WHO DOES THAT WILL RECEIVE AN EVIL PUNISHMENT. (SURAT AL-FURQAN: 68) AS WE CAN SEE IN THE VERSES ABOVE, THOSE WHO KILL INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS WITHOUT A CAUSE ARE THREATENED WITH EVIL PUNISHMENT. ALLAH HAS REVEALED THAT KILLING ONE PERSON IS AS GREAT A SIN AS KILLING ALL MANKIND. ANYONE WHO RESPECTED THE PREROGATIVES OF ALLAH WOULD NOT DO HARM TO EVEN ONE INDIVIDUAL, LET ALONE MURDERING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. THOSE WHO THINK THAT THEY WILL ESCAPE JUSTICE AND PUNISHMENT IN THIS WORLD WILL NEVER ESCAPE THE ACCOUNT THEY MUST GIVE IN THE PRESENCE OF ALLAH ON THE LAST DAY. SO, THOSE BELIEVERS WHO KNOW THEY WILL GIVE AN ACCOUNT TO ALLAH AFTER THEIR DEATH WILL BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT RESPECTING THE LIMITS ALLAH HAS ESTABLISHED.

ALLAH COMMANDS BELIEVERS TO BE COMPASSIONATE AND MERCIFUL

IN THIS VERSE, MUSLIM MORALITY IS EXPLAINED: ...TO BE ONE OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND URGE EACH OTHER TO STEADFASTNESS AND URGE EACH OTHER TO COMPASSION. THOSE ARE THE COMPANIONS OF THE RIGHT. (SURAT AL-BALAD: 17-18) AS WE SEE IN THIS VERSE, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MORAL PRECEPTS THAT ALLAH HAS SENT DOWN TO HIS SERVANTS SO THAT THEY MAY RECEIVE SALVATION AND MERCY AND ATTAIN PARADISE, IS TO "URGE EACH OTHER TO COMPASSION". ISLAM AS DESCRIBED IN THE NOBLE QUR'AN IS A MODERN, ENLIGHTENED, PROGRESSIVE RELIGION. A MUSLIM IS ABOVE ALL A PERSON OF PEACE; HE IS TOLERANT WITH A ISLAMIC SPIRIT, CULTURED, ENLIGHTENED, HONEST, KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ART AND SCIENCE AND CIVILISED. A MUSLIM EDUCATED IN THE FINE MORAL TEACHING OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN, APPROACHES EVERYONE WITH THE LOVE THAT ISLAM EXPECTS. HE SHOWS RESPECT FOR EVERY IDEA THAT COMPLIES WITH THE SHARIAH. HE IS CONCILIATORY IN THE FACE OF EVERY EVENT, DIMINISHING TENSION AND RESTORING AMITY. IN SOCIETIES COMPOSED OF INDIVIDUALS SUCH AS THIS, THERE WILL BE A HIGHER CIVILISATION, A HIGHER SOCIAL MORALITY, MORE JOY, HAPPINESS, JUSTICE, SECURITY, ABUNDANCE AND BLESSINGS THAN IN THE MOST MODERN NATIONS OF THE WORLD TODAY.

ALLAH HAS COMMANDED TOLERANCE AND FORGIVENESS

SURAT AL-A'RAF, VERSE 199, WHICH SAYS "PRACTICE FORGIVENESS", EXPRESSES THE CONCEPT OF FORGIVENESS AND TOLERANCE WHICH IS ONE OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM. WHEN WE LOOK AT ISLAMIC HISTORY, WE CAN SEE CLEARLY HOW MUSLIMS ESTABLISHED THIS IMPORTANT PRECEPT OF THE MORAL TEACHING OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN IN THEIR SOCIAL LIFE. AT EVERY POINT IN THEIR ADVANCE, MUSLIMS DESTROYED UNLAWFUL PRACTICES AND CREATED A FREE AND TOLERANT ENVIRONMENT. IN THE AREAS OF RELIGION, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, THEY MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR PEOPLE TOTALLY OPPOSITE TO EACH OTHER TO LIVE UNDER THE SAME ROOF IN FREEDOM AND PEACE, THEREBY GIVING TO THOSE SUBJECT TO THEM THE ADVANTAGES OF KNOWLEDGE, WEALTH AND POSITION. LIKEWISE, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT REASONS THAT THE LARGE AND WIDESPREAD ISLAMIC EMPIRE WAS ABLE TO SUSTAIN ITS EXISTENCE FOR SO MANY CENTURIES WAS THAT ITS WAY OF LIFE WAS DIRECTED BY THE TOLERANCE AND UNDERSTANDING BROUGHT BY ISLAM. FOR CENTURIES MUSLIMS HAVE BEEN CHARACTERISED BY THEIR TOLERANCE AND COMPASSION. IN EVERY PERIOD OF TIME THEY HAVE BEEN THE MOST JUST AND MERCIFUL OF PEOPLE. ALL ETHNIC GROUPS WITHIN THIS MULTI-NATIONAL COMMUNITY FREELY PRACTICED THE RELIGIONS THEY HAVE FOLLOWED FOR YEARS AND ENJOYED EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN THEIR OWN CULTURES AND WORSHIP IN THEIR OWN WAY. INDEED, THE PARTICULAR TOLERANCE OF MUSLIMS, WHEN PRACTICED AS COMMANDED IN THE NOBLE QUR'AN, CAN ALONE BRING PEACE AND WELL-BEING TO THE WHOLE WORLD. THE NOBLE QUR'AN REFERS TO THIS PARTICULAR KIND OF TOLERANCE: A GOOD ACTION AND A BAD ACTION ARE NOT THE SAME. RESPOND THE BAD ATTITUDE WITH SOMETHING BETTER TO AVOID ENMITY BETWEEN YOU AND SOMEONE ELSE, HE WILL LIKELY TO CHANGE HIS ATTITUDE.

CONCLUSION

ALL THIS SHOWS THAT THE MORAL TEACHING OFFERED TO HUMANITY BY ISLAM IS ONE THAT WILL BRING PEACE, HAPPINESS AND JUSTICE TO THE WORLD. THE BARBARISM THAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD TODAY UNDER THE NAME OF "ISLAMIC TERRORISM" IS COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE MORAL TEACHINGS OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN; IT IS THE WORK OF IGNORANT, BIGOTED PEOPLE, CRIMINALS WHO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGION. THE SOLUTION WHICH WILL BE APPLIED AGAINST THESE INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS, WHO ARE TRYING TO COMMIT THEIR DEEDS OF SAVAGERY UNDER THE GUISE OF ISLAM, WILL BE THE INSTRUCTION OF PEOPLE IN THE TRUE MORAL TEACHING OF ISLAM. IN OTHER WORDS, THE RELIGION OF ISLAM AND THE MORAL TEACHING OF THE NOBLE QUR'AN ARE NOT THE SUPPORTERS OF TERRORISM AND THE TERRORISTS, BUT THE REMEDY BY WHICH THE WORLD CAN BE SAVED FROM THE SCOURGE OF TERRORISM.

Mind

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

"We are, where we are and what we are because of the thoughts that dominate our mind. We are neither masters nor victims of our attitudes. It's a matter of personal choice, the will to win and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur"

A discussion on the basic qualities of a healthy mind and what it will enable a person to do as described in the Qur'an.

Mind and reason are an essential part of Islamic thought and legislation. One could not exist without the other. What exactly do we refer to when we talk about the mind? There are two kinds of reasoning by the mind that have been identified.

The first is intuitive reasoning that includes: the capacity to comprehend, make rational conclusions, form speech and behave sensibly. The second kind of reasoning is acquired from our environment, such as the things we have been taught or become familiarised with.

I shall discuss intuitive reasoning for it is what Allah has granted to all and it is what makes us accountable for our behaviour. One who does not possess a mind or has lost his mind cannot be fully responsible for what he does.

Often, a person will have a good mind, and then choose not to use it or restrain it from thinking logically when it comes to matters of religion and faith. He will end up being one of the unfaithful and will be held accountable for his ignorance in religion. "And it is not for any soul to believe, except by the leave of Allah, and He lays abomination on those who have' no understanding." [10:100]. It is no wonder that the punishment of those who do not believe is equivalent to that of those who do not understand. "Whoever Allah wishes to guide, He expands his chest to Islam, and whoever He wishes to leave astray, He makes his chest narrow and constricted as if he were climbing up to the sky. So Allah lays abomination on those who do not believe." [6:125]. These two verses point out that one cannot possibly purify his heart unless he puts his mind to work, allowing faith and security into his heart.

The Qur'an refers to the mind in different ways depending on the nature of the task being dealt with:

1. The mind is able to understand and process speech. "Do you (Muslims) expect that they (Jews) will be believers, while some of them used to listen to the revelation of Allah (Torah), then intentionally tamper with it, while they understood it and knew it was the Truth?" [2:75]. "We have revealed it an Arabic Qur'an, that you may understand." [12:2] The reason the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic was so that the minds of the people upon whom it was descended would be able to grasp it and appreciate its meanings.

2. The mind is able to project coherent and non-conflicting thoughts. "O people of earlier scripture! Why do you argue about Ibrahim, when the Torah and Injeel were not revealed until after him? Do you not have minds?" [3:65]. Those who claim that Ibrahim was a Jew or a Christian are contradicting themselves, since both Judaism and Christianity came long after the time of Ibrahim. The surah of al-Anaam, verse 91, also refers to the Jews contradicting themselves: "And they did not attach the proper esteem to Allah when they said, 'Allah has not revealed anything to any human.' Say, 'Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought as a light and as a guidance to people, which you divided into fragments, part of which you show to the people and most of which you hide from them, and you were taught knowledge which neither you nor your fathers had possessed! Say, 'It is Allah,' then leave them to churn in their vain discourses." The verse points that the Jews cannot claim to believe in the prophecy of Moses and in the Torah, then go on to say that Allah did not reveal anything to any humans, because those are contradicting thoughts.

3. The mind is able to understand proof and evidence of truth. "He has set for you an analogy from your lives: Have you, among that which your right hands possess, partners in what We have bestowed on you sharing with you equally and you fear them as you fear each other? Thus we make clear the signs for people who understand." [6:28] "Say, 'If Allah had pleased, I would not have recited the Qur'an to you, nor would you have had any knowledge of it, indeed, I have already lived among you for a lifetime before it, do you not understand?" [10:16].

4. Actions must correspond to words. "Do you enjoin the performance of good deeds on the people and neglect it yourselves, while you read the Scriptures, do you not have any sense?" [2:44]. This verse is reprimanding the people, not for encouraging others to adhere to the way of Allah, for that is always a virtue. The verse, however, is pointing out the contradiction of the people who are giving good advice but not taking it themselves. In any case, how the giver of good advice behaves does not reduce the value of the advice, such as a smoker or an alcoholic warning his children against the harms of those behaviours. It is far better than encouraging them to take on such harmful habits and better than not giving them any useful advice at all. Still, it does not make much sense to recognise the value of behaving in a certain way, and encourage others to do so, while acting in an opposing manner. For this reason, the good prophet in the Surah of Hood, verse 88 said, "He said, 'O my people, just consider, if I stand upon clear proof from my Lord and He has provided me with sustenance good and pure and I do not wish to dispute with you about that which I forbid you to do. I only desire to reform you as far as I am able. My success in that rests only with Allah and in Him I put my trust and to Him I turn."

5. The mind enables the person to make intelligent choices about what is good for him and what is harmful and should be rejected. "And the worldly life is no more but play and diversion, surely the last abode is better for those who are pious, then will you not understand?" [6:32]. "Surely We have revealed to you a Book in which is a message for you, will you then not understand?" [21:10].
6. People of mind are able to give up immediate, short-lived benefits in favour of eventually gaining more valuable, eternal joy. "Whatever you have been given of things, they are only the worldly possessions of this life and its glitter, but that which is with Allah is better and everlasting. Have you then no sense?" [28:10]. In other verses, there is no direct mention of sense, but it can be inferred that sensible people will be able to choose to wait for what is further away, yet more meaningful. For example, "O you who believe, what is amiss with you, that when it is said to you, 'March forth in the cause of Allah (to fight)', you cling excessively to the earth. Are you content with the life of this world, rather than the Hereafter? Yet joy on this world, compared to the Hereafter, is but little." [9:38].

7. People of mind are able to learn valuable lessons from the events of life. In the Surah of al-Ankabut verse 35 tells us that the remains of the town of the people of Loot remained in order to remind people and teach them that rejecting the teachings of Allah and committing atrocities will always have regrettable consequences. "And we have left a clear sign of it for people who possess minds." This is also referred to in verse 40 of Surah al-Furqan, "And surely they must have passed by the town that was rained on by an evil rain, did they not see it? But they were hoping not to be raised again (from the graves)."

8. The mind enables us to learn from the lessons of history. "And We have not sent before you any but men from among the people of the towns. We revealed to them. Have they not travelled in the land, have they not seen how was the end of those before them? And the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah. Do you not then understand?" [12:109].

9. The mind enables us to understand and appreciate the signs of the Creator, while here on earth. "Surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth, in the disparity of the night and the day, in the ships that course in the sea with that which benefits people, in the water that Allah sends down from the sky, reviving with it the earth after it was barren, in His spreading in it all kinds of living things, in the changing of the winds and of the subjected clouds between the earth, indeed are Signs for people who have understanding." [2:164]. "For you, Allah subjected the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, and the stars are in subjection to His command. Surely in this are signs for people for people who understand." [16:12].

10. Sensible people will know to treat others with respect, particularly in their dealings with the prophets. The Surah of al-Hujurat refers to people who harassed the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: "Surely those who call out to you from behind the chambers, most of them do not possess minds."

The qualities of the mind discussed are fairly indisputable and it is accepted by most people that a person who lacks these qualities will be seen as unreasonable or lacking in various ways. Thus the Qur'an has reminded us that certain behaviours are inconsistent with an intelligent and sound mind.

We must remember also that there are many verses of the Qur'an that do not specifically mention the mind; but indicate that thoughtful and reasonable people will be able to follow the way of Allah making good use of their God-given gift: The Mind.

Mihraj

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

Isra (The Journey) and Mihraj (The Ascension)

Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Masjid to the farthest Masjid, whose precincts We did bless in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the One Who hears and sees (all things). (17:1)

Following the year of sorrow, Prophet Muhammed (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was blessed with the experience of Isra (the Night Journey) and Miraj (the Ascension). A journey that has no parallel in human history, begins from the Kaa'ba in the city of Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in the city of Jerusalem, and concluding beyond the horizons of human comprehension in the heavens.

Prophetic acts are not simple miracles as we may understand today but they are clear Signs from the Majestic Creator. We are made to witness such Prophetic experiences as a trial and test of our faith in our absolute servitude to Allah and our unquestionable loyalty in the following of His Prophets. To believe in them and their mission is to believe in the All Encompassing Creator. We testify that "we make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers" (2:285). From Ibrahim to Muhammed and everyone in between (may Allah's peace & blessings be upon all of them), they are, but Allah's Messengers with a clear Message and a defined Mission to establish Divine Law, Supreme and Sovereign over all other man-made laws. And that is for the good of all humanity.

Among many other lessons that the event of Isra and Miraj offers, some are the gift of daily prayers, the transfer of leadership from the Children of Israel to the Children of Ismail, and the Centrality of Jerusalem in the history of Islam.

Prophet Muhammed (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) received the command for 5 daily prayers on this blessed night. This daily ritual is an expression of epitomic proportions challenging the earthly beings to unquestionably submit and surrender oneself to the One and Only Creator. In his ascension beyond the domain of earthly space and time, he met Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), Jesus (Isa) and others (peace and blessings of Allah be upon all of them) and led them in prayers at al-Aqsa and then in the heavens. The concept of per chance does not fit the workings of the Creator. Everything He does is for a purpose. Prophet's revisit to Jerusalem since the changing of the Qibla is for no other purpose but to re-emphasize the centrality of Jerusalem, as the first and eternal Capital of Islam.

Each year, we relive the memory of Isra (Night Journey) and Miraj (Ascension) from Makkah to Jerusalem and then to the heights of heavens. Fourteen centuries has helped more than one billion people recognise and accept the Truth and accept the Prophetic leadership and his contributions to the humanity. Since past few decades, there seems to be confusion on the Centrality of Jerusalem. This must be cleared. Muslims must remember their responsibilities. The restoration of Jerusalem as the eternal Capital of Islam and establishing peace and justice for the people therein is imperative. There are myriad tools available today for this pursuit. Chief among them is "will".

The biggest impact that the medium of Internet has had in today's modern world is the elimination of distance. Muslims must adapt to such modern tools of today with great speed. This medium must be harnessed to educate and to recognise the differences between myths and realities.

Makkah

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

Makkah is the first place created.

Makkah, also Baca, where Muslims do their Hajj is proved to be the first land created. It is scientifically established that the globe in the beginning was completely submerged in water (a huge ocean), later volcanoes in the bottom of this ocean erupted violently sending out huge amounts of lave and magma forming "a hill", and this hill was the land which God ordered to be floor of the Kaaba (kiblah), the basalt stones from Makkah were proved to be the most ancient stones in the earth by a scientific study ,

If so, this means that God must have extended land from this place. So this is the oldest place in the world. Is there any prophetic hadith denote this staggering fact? The answer is plain "yes".

The prophet says" The Kaaba was a piece of land over water, from which the land was extended." And this is supported by the already mentioned fact.

Being the first place created is, no doubts, adds to the spirituality of the place. Also, who told the prophet that the land was in the yore of time was submerged in water and who told him that Kaaba was the first place to be built on this piece of land as supported by the study of the basalt rocks in Makkah?

Makkah is the center of the world.

Professor Hussain Kamel stumbled over a staggering fact that Makkah is the center of the world. He was in search of a way of determining the direction of the kiblah in the major cities of the world.

To achieve this goal, he drew a chart and, having drawn the continents taking into consideration the locations of the seven continents to Makkah and their distances , he started to draw the equal lines just to facilitate how to project the longitudes and the latitudes lines.

After two years of arduous toiling work aided by highly advanced complicated computer programmes to determine the correct distances and the different variations and many other necessary things, he, to his amazement, discovered that Makkah is the center of the earth; he realised that it is possible to draw a circle with Makkah centered in it and the circle's borders will be outside the continents and in the same time its circumference moves with the external circumference of the continents ( Al-Arabi agazine,number237, August 1978).

Satellite's Pictures, later in the nineties of the 20th century, emphasised the same result when further studies concerning the topography of the earth's layers and the geography of the land were made.

It is scientifically established that the earth plates, through the long geological age, have been moving regularly around the Arabian plate; these plates constantly converge towards it as if they pointed to it. This scientific study was done for different purpose; it wasn't meant to prove that Makkah is the center of the earth but, anyhow, this study was published in many scientific magazine in the west.

God says in the Noble Quran what means:

And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her...(92) These few words "the mother of cities and all around her...(92)" mean that Makkah is center and the other cities are just around her. Moreover, the Arabic word" Um, which means "mother" has a significant meanings in the Islamic culture; as "a mother" is the source of the progeny, Makkah is also is the source of all the other land as already shown in the beginning of this study. Also, the word "Mother" gives Makkah the primacy over all the other cities. Makkah or Greenish mean time? Taken into consideration that Makkah is in the middle of the earth as supported by geological studies and pictures from satellites, it is now strongly believed that holy city, not Greenwich, should become the reference point for world time, reigniting an old controversy that started some four decades ago. There is a plethora of scientific evidence to prove that Makkah was the core of that zero longitude passes through the holy city and not through Greenwich in the UK. "GMT" was imposed on the world in the time when most of the world lands were under the British conquer. If Makkah's time put into effect, it will be easy for anyone to know the times of prayers. So, Makkah, the Holy city, should have its primacy over any other city in the world.

Makkah is the center of the Heavens.

There are some verses and prophetic hadith that implies this fact; God says: "O' Company of jinn and men, if you are able to pierce through the confines of the heavens and earth, pierce through them. You will not pierce through except with a clear authority. (Qur'an, 55:33)

The Arabic word translated as "confines" in the above verse is "aqtar." This is the plural form of the word "qutr," meaning diameter and refers to the skies and the Earth having many diameters.

It can be understood from this verse and from some hadiths that diameters of the heavens are above the diameters of the earth (the seven plates of the earth), and if Makkah is in the middle of the earth, this means that Makkah is also in the middle of the heavens.

Also, the hadith says the Holy Mosque in Makkah, where the Kaaba is, is in the middle of the seven heavens and the seven earths (meaning the seven known layers forming the earth)

Also the prophet says "O' people of Makkah, O' Kruish (his tribe) you are under the middle of the heavens."

Makkah is the center where the radiation of the universe converges

It has been proven that Makkah is the center of the universe and research followed and to the amazement of the scientists, Makkah has been found to be the center where the magnetic attraction converge and this explains why every one visits Makkah is always affectionately attracted to it.

Robert Coleman, an American prominent scientists, conducted successive experiments in his lab, he did some experiment on the center of magnetic gravitational source of the earth and the meeting point of the universal radiation, he found that these all meet in one point on the surface of the earth and when he searched for its geographical location, he found that it is Makkah. He did his study for sheer scientific goals. So, Makkah is the center of the seven continents and it is also the center where the magnetic attraction radiation meet.

The Quranic description of Makkah as "Uma al-koura" meaning the mother of the all cities" adds more spiritual meanings to Makkah; the word "mother" also means heart, the middle, the most important and the source.

Makkah, the safe and well-secured city.

Makkah is surrounded by tall mountains that lessen the impact of the earthquakes that rarely could happen there, also the huge temperature in this area keeps the rocks under the crust in sticky state, this also helps so much in lessening the impact of any earthquakes if ever happens.

So God swear by Makkah calling her the secure city. Allah says: "I swear by the fig and the olive, (1) And mount Sinai, (2) And this city made secure…".

Circumambulation around Makkah.

A Muslim, when circumambulating around Makkah, should start from where the black Stone is, his motion should be anticlockwise, it is noteworthy that everything in the universe from atoms to galaxies moves anticlockwise. Everything in this universe move the same direction a Hajj does.

Electrons in atoms move around the nucleus anticlockwise.
The earth platelets moves around the Arabian platelet anticlockwise .
In the human body, the cytoplasm moves around the nucleus of a cell anticlockwise.
The proteins molecules are arranged from left to the right anticlockwise.
The blood starts its movement from the left side to the right side anticlockwise.
In mothers uterus, the ovum moves around itself anticlockwise.
The sperm, when reaching the ovum, moves around itself anticlockwise.
The human blood circulatory starts its movement anticlockwise.
The earth moves around itself and around the sun anticlockwise.
The sun moves around itself anticlockwise.
The sun with all its solar system moves around a certain point in the galaxy anticlockwise.
The galaxy also moves around itself anticlockwise.
Doesn't this add spiritual meaning to the Muslim circumambulation around Kaaba, all from atom to galaxy in submissive motion that Allah imposed on all.

The Blake stone.

The black stone is a stone that was brought from the heaven to the earth, it is there inserted in the structure of the Kaaba and surrounded with silver frame.

The English Geographical association planned to study it, so it asked an English man by the name Richard Francis Burton to travel among the Egyptian pilgrims, disguising himself in Arabian clothes, His task was to steal a piece from the black stone and he succeeded in stealing three pieces of the black stone which is now preserved in the English Museum in London. When the English scientists studied these pieces, to their amazement, they discovered that these pieces have different chemical structure from meteors and the final conclusion was that this piece is not from even our solar system, it is even different from all the aerolite that found on the earth.

The English traveller embraced Islam and authored a book under the title "My Journey to Makkah"

Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The Black Stone came down from Jannah (Paradise).” (At-Tirmidhi)

Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When the Black Stone came down from Paradise, it was whiter than milk, but the sins of the sons of Adam made it black.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) further related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Allah, Allah will bring it forth on the Day of Judgment, and it will have two eyes with which it will see and a tongue with which it will speak, and it will testify in favour of those who touched it in sincerity.”(At-Tirmidhi)

Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying: “Touching them both [the Black Stone and Ar-Rukn Al-Yamani] is an expiation for one’s sins.” (At-Tirmidhi)

AI-Tirmidhi related on the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said, "The Black Stone descended from Paradise much whiter than milk, but it was turned black by the sins committed by mankind." (5, v. 2, p. 112) AI-Tirmidhi said it was a good and sound Hadith. It is sunnah that one touches the Black Stone and kisses it.

Ibn Khuzaima and Ibn Habban, in their two Sahihs, related that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said that the Black Stone would be resurrected on the Day of Judgement with two eyes and a tongue, and would be a witness to those who sincerely touched and kissed it.(8, v. 2, p. 193) Al-Tirmidhi related that it was a good and sound Hadith.

There are many prophetic hadiths that say many prophets were buried near Kaaba. Between the corner, Ibrahim station and the fountain of Zamzam are the tombs of ninety nines prophets who came to Makkah to do hajj , they died there and were buried there. (narrated in Qurtby Quran exegesis)

In another Hadith, the prophet says: "When a prophet's nation was perished, their prophet emigrated to Makkah, where he stayed there with the rest of his nation worshipping Allah."

Prophets used to emigrate to Makkah when his nation perished, he kept staying there with the rest of his nation worshipping Allah till he died, among those who died there are No'ah, Hud, Saleh and Shoe'yb, and their tombs are between Zamzam and the lap. (The Collection of the News of Makkah)

"Seventy five prophets did the pilgrimage and they all circumambulated the Kaaba and they prayed in Mena Mosque." (The Collection of the News of Makkah)

In the Mosque of Al-Keif lies the tombs of seventy prophets of the prophets of Allah. (Narrated by Al-Haythemy)

Zamzam well.

The most ancient ever known over the span of history is the well of Zamzam, water is still gushing out of it though it was filled with dust several times over the span of history, and though the stones it gushes out from have no pores in. It dates back far in history to the time of Ismail, some around 4000 years. Until recent time, none could not dare to tell where it exactly sprouts. It was only when they Saudi government started to dig tunnels around Makkah that they discovered that water gushes from crakes of stones, these crakes are so long. It is now believed that its water comes from places far than hundred of thousands of kilometers, bring minerals from every place it passes by. This water is much blessed by Allah, many hadith are narrated about the importance of Zamzam.

The Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said: "The best water on the surface of the earth is that of Zamzam. In it there is a food for the hungry and a cure for the ill."

He also said, "The water of Zamzam is for the purpose for which it is drunk."
Jesus predicts the change of the Qibla from Jerusalem to Baca

The change of the Qibla place, in Jesus prophecy, is significant as it implies the meaning of a new revelation to a new prophet, to a new nation .The change of kiblah from Jerusalem was a great event that is recorded in the Noble Quran and the Bible. Let's read the following verse from the Bible"

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father." (John 4:19)

From these lines , we can understand that:

(1) (Jesus is a prophet ) as the woman said "I perceive that though you are a prophet. Jesus did not object saying that he is a part of three parts of one God.

(2)The woman came to ask about the place where they should worship God . The toning of the lines adds more meanings to the words. (believe me) reflects how much he was fed up with them concerning a certain point. He shifted from the direct answer to the question, he wanted to assure what he said elsewhere and what is mentioned in the scripture. The answer was imbued with a melancholic and anger overtone. If we complete the verse we will feel that feeling.

…. the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. )

The verse reflects specific meaning "do your worship anywhere, don’t be so much interested in the matter, as the place of prayer soon will be changed.
We should understand that the prophecy has a direct meaning, it says that neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem people will be worship God; they will worship God somewhere else . No debate, no controversy, no pretexts, the hour is approaching and you will receive an order from God to worship Him somewhere else. Many prophecies are incorporated with one another to attest the fact that a new revelation will be sent. Only few centuries lapsed and Islam came, prophet Mohummed (SAW) used to do his prayer in the direction of Jerusalem, where the prophets of Israel had done. His heart was filled with a strong wish to turn his face toward the Kaaba .

Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet prayed facing Bait-ul Maqdis (i.e. Jerusalem) for sixteen or seventeen months but he wished that his Qibla would be the Ka'ba (at Makkah). (So Allah Revealed (2.144) and he offered 'Asr prayers (in his Mosque facing Ka'ba at Makkah), Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 15:

God, the Knowing, says in the Noble Quran what means:

We see the turning of thy face (for guidance) to the heavens: now shall we turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the sacred mosque: wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the book know well that is the truth from their Lord nor is God unmindful of what they do.

"In this verse Jesus prophecy was fulfilled and the Qibla was changed from Jerusalem to Baca (Makkah ) 'On a Tuesday of the month Rajeb in the second year of the Higra, Gabriel brought down the above mentioned verse .

Another prophecy incorporates in addition to the previous one. Psalm (84) describes Baca during pilgrimage. The same purport of the first prophecy is stressed in psalm (84) where the place of the new nation is motioned by its name .

" ...Yea, the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God. ……. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house. they will be still praising thee, blessed is the man whose strength is in thee, in whose heart are ways of them who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well, The rain also filleth the pools, they go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God)

In fact, not only does this prophecy tell us about the change of the Qibla, but also gives some information of the best qualities of the people concerned in the prophecy .

The prophecy is talking about a certain place , it is Baca (or Makkah ) in the time of pilgrimage. In this psalm, Baca is so clearly mentioned .
How does this psalm refer to Baca?

Nowhere else in the world is a place which is called Baca. The dictionary of the Bible could not give a clear definition to the word Baca; it says perhaps it is a place where pilgrims pass by or a tree .

So there is no any contradiction between what the dictionary says and what we claim.

Baca in this psalm is the same Baca where Quran was first revealed, where the advent of the prophet was first declared, where all Muslims go every year to perform pilgrimage, where the Qibla was changed .

Commentary on the psalm:

In this Psalm " the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young ."

This line refers to one of the injunction given by Allah in the Noble Quran concerning the prohibition of hunting birds. God says in the Noble Quran what means :

" O ye who believe kill not game while in the sacred precincts or in pilgrimage"
So the sparrow and the swallow find security in this place (Baca). It is completely forbidden to catch or hunt birds during the time of pilgrimage, so it clear, now, why the sparrow has a found a house and why the swallow found a nest where she may lay her young. It is the security given to birds in Baca."

The psalm says "blessed is the man whose strength is in thee"

It is incumbent on every Muslim who is going to do the pilgrimage to utter some words expressing his intention of doing pilgrimage. These word reflects how a man who is going to do the pilgrimage is weak, helpless and powerless, It is true, it is not an easy journey. Time is spent in open desert where the highest temperature could be recorded there. Every a pilgrim must say before he begins his journey "Oh God, I am going to fulfil my intention of pilgrimage, so make it easy (bearable) to me. The meaning of the above mentioned line is clear now when you read "blessed is the man whose strength is in thee."

The psalm says "they will be still praising thee."

This line refers clearly to what Muslim pilgrims say while doing pilgrimage, if you are there, you will find them praising God, glorifying Him in a loud voice. With eyes filled with tear, with hand eagerly shaken, with hearts eagerly supplicating, do they rise their voices with words of praising and glorifying God.

Yes, a liturgy that is uttered so loudly, nothing you could hear there but this sentence "Oh God ! here I am in complete submission, No partner to be associated with You, praise be to you, all gifts and bounties are granted from You."

The psalm says "passing through the valley of Baca make it a well"

This is a reference to Zamam well, which overflows there in Baca, it has been there since the time of Ishmael, it is still there, so blessed. Is there any place in the world named Baca and has a well other than Baca?

A rebuttal.

Christian scholars found themselves in cul-de-sac concerning this prophecy, so they began to substitute the word (Baca) with the phrase (where balsam trees grow) (GWT) and in another version "the valley of Weeping (ASV:), here is another failure, as nowhere else in the world but in Baca does this tree grow. Nothing could change the reality as the word Baca is still there written with a capital letter denoting that it is a proper noun of a certain place as the dictionary of the holy Book says. The Arabic scripture encyclopaedia says concerning this tree "the true balsam which the ancient authors referred to is that of Baca." This encyclopaedia also says "A lot of scientists searched for this tree in Palestine but in vain "Dr Post and many other botanists searched carefully for this tree in Palestine and they could not find and trace. But the well in this barren valley will remain also a strong evidence that Baca of the Muslim is that which is concerned in this prophecy, no where else in Palestine is there a barren valley with a well in it. The marginal annotation in the holy book says about Baca that it is unknown place.

Another attempt of misguiding people the use of "The Valley of the Weeping" instead of the valley of Baca"

Some versions use the word weeping instead of Baca especially the Arabic version. Finding that the word Baca a strong reference to Islam, they changed the word using "the valley of Weeping" ,they say we call this valley: the valley of Weeping" because of the trees that grow there and that secret a certain kind of gum that looks much like human tears. So in an attempt to conceal the reality they used the word weeping instead of Baca, No one can fight God's word because Baca means in Arabic either defeating or weeping as most of pilgrims used to weep their seeking to atone their sins, So this name also applies to Baca, all the features and the characteristics they tried to use apply to Baca, it is Baca, it is also the valley where balsam tree that grows there and it is also the valley of weeping. But the proper noun "Baca" will always remain the strongest evidence that this prophecy mirrors Baca in the time of pilgrimage.

The Noble Quran says "And (the unbelievers) plotted and planned, and God too planned, and the best of planners is God. (3:45)

Prophet's Life

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

THE LIFE OF THE PROPHET

To absorb the Glorius Quran, you must move as close as you can to the Prophet (peace be upon him) who received it first from Allah.  His whole life is a "living Quran".  If you want to 'read' the Glorius Quran in action, observe the Prophet in his deeds, as Saiyyedah 'A'isha said: "his conduct was nothing but the Glorious Quran." To move closer to the Prophet, you should read his sayings (ahadith) and his life (Sirah) as much as you can.

Let us, in conclusion, pray to Allah to enable us to recite the Glorious Qur'an as it ought to be recited and nor to make us like those:

...  TO WHOM THE BOOK WAS GIVEN BEFORE, BUT WITH THE LAPSE OF TIME, THEIR HEARTS BECAME HARD. (The Noble  Quran 57:16)

...  WHO WERE GIVEN THE BURDEN OF THE TORAH THEN THEY DID NOT CARRY IT, THEY ARE LIKE A DONKEY CARRYING HOOKS. (The Noble Quran 62:5)

AND TO MAKE US LIKE THOSE WHO: ...  WHEN ALLAH IS MENTIONED, THEIR HEARTS QUAKE, AND WHEN HIS VERSES ARE RECITED TO THEM, IT INCREASES THEM IN FAITH. (The Noble Quran 39:23)

HEART SHIVER THE SKINS OF THOSE WHO FEAR THEIR LORD; THEN THEIR SKINS AND HEARTS SOFTEN TO THE REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH (The Noble Quran 39:23)

WHEN IT IS RECITED TO THEM, THEY FALL DOWN UPON THEIR FACES, PROSTRATING (The Noble Quran 17:107)

AND THEY SAY: GLORY BE TO OUR LORD! OUR LORD'S PROMISE IS FULFILLED.(The Noble Quran 17:108)

AND THEY FALL DOWN UPON THEIR FACES, WEEPING AND IT INCREASES THEM IN HUMILITY. (The Noble Quran 17:109)

AND DO NOT MAKE US LIKE THOSE: about whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) will, on the Day of Judgement, complain, O MY LORD! THESE MY PEOPLE HAVE ABANDONED THE QURAN (The Noble Quran 25:30)

Our Lord! Enable us to imbibe the meaning of the Qur'an and guide us to and lead us along the straight path.

Kaa'ba

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

THE STORY OF THE KAA’BA

THE KAA’BA, THE HUGE CUBE-LIKE EDIFICE SITUATED IN THE CENTRE OF THE GREAT MASJID AT MAKKAH IS RIGHTLY CONSIDERED THE PALLADIUM OF ISLAM. THIS MODEST STRUCTURE DEDICATED BY MAN TO GOD AND THE CULT OF MONOTHEISM OCCUPIES A HALLOWED PLACE IN THE HEART OF EVERY TRUE MUSLIM. BESIDES FORMING THE FOCAL POINT OF THE HAJ OR MUSLIM PILGRIMAGE UNDERTAKEN BY BELIEVERS OF ALL HUES AND TONGUES, THE KAA’BA IS THE QIBLA OR CENTRE OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD TOWARDS WHICH ALL MUSLIMS TURN IN PRAYER.

TO MUSLIMS, IT IS THE HOLIEST SPOT ON EARTH; THE SANCTUM SANCTORUM OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD. MANY ARE THE NAMES BY WHICH THE KAA’BA IS KNOWN. THUS IT IS CALLED BAITULLAH (THE HOUSE OF GOD), AL-BAIT AL-HARAM (THE SACRED HOUSE) AND AL-BAIT AL-ATIQ (THE MOST ANCIENT HOUSE). THE APPELLATION KAA’BA ITSELF DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A PROPER NAME AND SEEMS TO BE CONNECTED WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THE BUILDING, FOR THE TERM LITERALLY MEANS A 'CUBE'. YET THE BUILDING HAS MORE TO IT THAN MEETS THE EYE. THE KAA’BA IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN BUILT OF GREY STONE SOURCED FROM THE HILLS SURROUNDING MAKKAH AND IN ITS INTERIOR COULD BE FOUND INNER WALLS AND PILLARS SUPPORTING THE ROOF WHICH RISES UP TO ABOUT FIFTY FEET ABOVE THE GROUND BELOW.

IN THE EASTERN CORNER, ABOUT FIVE FEET ABOVE THE GROUND AND BUILT INTO THE WALL IS WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE HAJAR AL-ASWAD OR 'BLACK STONE'. MUSLIM TRADITION HAS IT THAT THIS BLACK STONE FELL FROM PARADISE AND THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY WHITER THAN MILK, ITS PRESENT BLACK COLOUR BEING DUE TO THE SINS IT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH DURING THE JAHILLIYAH OR PAGAN PERIOD. TO THE SOUTH EAST OF THE KAA’BA AND OPPOSITE THE CORNER OF THE SANCTUARY IN WHICH THE BLACK STONE IS PLACED COULD BE FOUND THE WELL OF ZAMZAM WHICH IS TO HAVE ORIGINATED FROM A SPRING BROUGHT INTO EXISTENCE BY THE ANGEL GABRIEL.

THE ORIGINS OF THE KAA’BA

THE MUSLIM HOLY BOOK, THE NOBLE QUR'AN HAS IT THAT THE KAA’BA WAS THE FIRST PLACE OF WORSHIP APPOINTED FOR MANKIND. SAYS THE NOBLE QUR'AN: "VERILY, THE FIRST HOUSE (OF WORSHIP) APPOINTED FOR MANKIND WAS THAT AT BAKKA (AN OLDER NAME OF MAKKAH), FULL OF BLESSING AND A GUIDANCE FOR ALL BEINGS”. THE HOLY BOOK ALSO SAYS: "AND (REMEMBER) WHEN ABRAHAM AND ISHMAEL WERE RAISING THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE HOUSE (KAA’BA) SAYING "OUR LORD, ACCEPT (THIS SERVICE) FROM US. VERILY YOU ARE THE ALL-HEARER, THE ALL-KNOWER. OUR LORD! AND MAKE US SUBMISSIVE UNTO YOU AND OF OUR OFFSPRING A NATION SUBMISSIVE UNTO YOU". HERE WE ARE TOLD THAT THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE KAA’BA WERE RAISED BY ABRAHAM AND ISHMAEL, THE PROGENITORS OF THE ISHMAELITES, THE ARAB NATION TO WHICH THE PROPHET MUHAMMED BELONGED.

SOME MUSLIM TRADITIONISTS ARE HOWEVER OF THE VIEW THAT THE KAA’BA WAS BUILT BY ABRAHAM ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF AN EARLIER TEMPLE BUILT BY ADAM, THE PROGENITOR OF MANKIND. THUS IF WE ARE TO GO BY THIS TRADITION, THE ARCHETYPE OF THE KAA’BA EXISTED AS FAR BACK AS THE TIME OF ADAM. AL-TABARI, ARAB HISTORIAN AND AUTHOR OF THE WORK 'TARIKH AL-RUSUL WA'L MULUK' COMPILED AROUND THE NINTH OR TENTH CENTURY HAS RECORDED SOME INTERESTING TRADITIONS CONCERNING THE ORIGINS OF THE KAA’BA THAT PREVAILED AMONGST THE ARABS OF OLD.

TRADITION HAS IT THAT WHEN GOD BANISHED ADAM AND EVE FROM PARADISE, ADAM FELL ON ADAM'S PEAK IN SERANDIB AND EVE SOME PLACE ELSE. FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS, THE PARENTS OF MANKIND FRUITLESSLY SEARCHED THE EARTH FOR EACH OTHER, ALONE AND DESPAIRING, UNTIL THE ANGEL GABRIEL DESCENDED AND LED ADAM TO EVE. AND IT IS SAID THAT IT WAS ON THE MOUNT OF ARAFAT, NOT FAR FROM MAKKAH, THAT THEY WERE REUNITED. WHEN ADAM CAME TO MAKKAH, GABRIEL WITH HIS WING UNCOVERED A FOUNDATION ON A SITE EXACTLY BELOW THE SPOT OCCUPIED BY THE DIVINE PALACE IN THE SEVENTH HEAVEN KNOWN AS THE BAITUL-MA'MUR. THE ANGELS THREW BLOCKS ON IT FROM LEBANON, THE MOUNT OF OLIVES, JABAL JUDI AND HIRA UNTIL THE HOLE WAS FILLED LEVEL WITH THE EARTH. GOD THEN SENT FROM PARADISE A TENT OF RED JACINTH IN WHICH ADAM LIVED. IN WHAT WAS AFTERWARDS TO BECOME THE BLACK STONE, A WHITE JACINTH FROM PARADISE SERVED AS A SEAT. GOD COMMANDED ADAM TO BUILD THE KAA’BA AND GABRIEL TAUGHT HIM THE RITES OF THE PILGRIMAGE. ADAM IS THEN SAID TO HAVE TAKEN TO PERFORMING THE CIRCUMAMBULATION ROUND THE KAA’BA FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE OF THE ANGELS. MAKKAH HOWEVER WAS WITHOUT INHABITANTS AND THE SANCTUARY WITHOUT WORSHIPPERS. ADAM MADE HIS FEELINGS KNOWN TO GOD AND THE ALMIGHTY PROMISED HIM THAT WITH TIME, THE PLACE WOULD BE THE SITE TO WHICH MEN WOULD MAKE PILGRIMAGE. IN LATER TIMES, THE DELUGE IS SAID TO HAVE WASHED THE BUILDING AWAY SO THAT THE STONE HAD TO BE CONCEALED BY THE ANGELS IN ABU QUBAIS, A MOUNTAIN TO THE EAST OF MAKKAH. ALL THAT REMAINED OF THE KAA’BA WAS A RED MOUND WHICH WAS AFTERWARDS FOUND BY ABRAHAM.

THE TEMPLE OF ABRAHAM

THE STORY GOES THAT ABRAHAM AND HIS WIFE SARAH VISITED EGYPT AND FOLLOWING A SHORT STAY THERE WERE BESTOWED A GIRL NAMED HAGAR BY THE PHARAOH AND HIS QUEEN AS A MARK OF GRATITUDE TO THE AGED PATRIARCH. ALTHOUGH THE HEBREWS CLAIM THAT HAGAR WAS A 'HANDMAIDEN', OR RATHER A 'BONDSWOMAN' OF SARAH, MUSLIM TRADITIONISTS ARE OF THE VIEW THAT SHE WAS IN FACT AN EGYPTIAN PRINCESS. HAGAR IS THUS SAID TO HAVE BEEN THE DAUGHTER OF PHARAOH SENUSRIT I AND QUEEN NUFRIT. THEIR ELDER CHILD HAGAR THEY BESTOWED ON ABRAHAM, SAYING THAT THEY CONSIDERED IT BETTER FOR HER TO GO WITH A PROPHET OF GOD THAN TO BE MARRIED TO SOME PRINCE WHEN SHE GREW UP. ABRAHAM AND SARAH TAKING HAGAR WITH THEM DEPARTED TO CANNAAN WHERE THEY SETTLED DOWN. SINCE SARAH WAS BARREN, SHE SUGGESTED TO ABRAHAM THAT HE WED HAGAR. THIS HE DID WHEN SHE WAS SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD AND ISHMAEL WAS BORN TO THEM THE FOLLOWING YEAR. ALTHOUGH IN THE BEGINNING, SARAH WAS FOND OF THE CHILD, WITH TIME SHE GREW JEALOUS WHEN SHE NOTICED ABRAHAM TREATING HAGAR AFFECTIONATELY. TRANSFORMED, SHE DEMANDED OF HER HUSBAND THAT HE TAKE HAGAR AND HER SON INTO THE WILDERNESS AND THERE ABANDON THEM. SEEKING DIVINE GUIDANCE, ABRAHAM SET OUT WITH WITH HAGAR AND ISHMAEL AND TRAVELLED SOUTHWARD OUT OF CANAAN UNTIL HE REACHED THE PRESENT SITE OF MAKKAH.

THERE HE LEFT THE MOTHER AND CHILD TO THE CARE OF GOD, CONVINCED THAT NO HARM COULD COME TO EITHER, AS THIS WAS THE GROUND ON WHICH THE ORIGINAL KAA’BA HAD STOOD, BEFORE THE DELUGE. ABANDONED, HAGAR BECAME FEARFUL FOR THE LIFE OF HER CHILD AND LEAVING HIM NEAR THE SPOT WHERE THE KAA’BA STANDS TODAY, WENT IN SEARCH OF WATER. CLIMBING UP THE HILL KNOWN AS SAFA SHE BESOUGHT GOD'S HELP. LOOKING TO THE NORTH, HAGAR SIGHTED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A LAKE AND DESCENDING FROM THE MOUNTAIN, RAN TOWARDS IT ONLY TO FIND THAT IT DISAPPEARED WHEN SHE APPROACHED IT. WEARILY SHE MOUNTED ANOTHER LOW HILL KNOWN AS MARWAH AND LOOKING BACK IN THE DIRECTION WHENCE SHE CAME BEHELD ANOTHER LAKE AND DESCENDING AGAIN MADE HER WAY TO SAFA ONLY TO FIND THAT IT DISAPPEARED AS SHE APPROACHED. IN NEAR-PANIC, THE DISTRAUGHT WOMAN RAN HITHER AND TITHER FROM SAFA AND BACK, PASSING THROUGH THE MIRAGE SEVEN TIMES. HOPELESSLY, HAGAR LOOKED TOWARDS THE SPOT WHERE SHE HAD LEFT HER SON AND SAW THERE A FIGURE STANDING BY THE CHILD. SHE HASTENED TOWARDS THE STRANGER AND THEN SLOWED, RECOGNISING HIM TO BE THE ANGEL GABRIEL. THE ARCHANGEL STRUCK THE EARTH AND WATER BUBBLED FORTH. THUS WAS ESTABLISHED THE WELL OF ZAMZAM. HAGAR DWELT BY THE POOL, CARING FOR HER SON AND TRUSTING IN THE GOD WHO HAD ANSWERED HER PRAYERS. ONE DAY, A WANDERING TRIBE FROM YEMEN WHO HAPPENED TO PASS THAT WAY SAW THE MOTHER AND CHILD AND ASKED THEIR LEAVE TO SHARE THE WATER. PITCHING THEIR TENTS NEAR THE POOL, THEY PROCEEDED TO SETTLE DOWN AT THE SPOT. WHEN ISHMAEL GREW UP, HE WED A MAIDEN OF THE TRIBE AND LIVED BY THE CHASE. ABRAHAM, HAVING RECEIVED THE DIVINE COMMAND AGAIN ARRIVED AT THE VALLEY WHERE HIS HUNTER SON DWELT AND BOTH FATHER AND SON LABOURED IN THE BLAZING SUN TO RAISE THE KAA’BA. WHEN IT WAS COMPLETED, ABRAHAM CLIMBED TO THE TOP AND CALLED UNTO ALL MANKIND, SUMMONING THEM TO THE WORSHIP OF THE ONE TRUE GOD.

THE KAA’BA THUS ESTABLISHED BY ABRAHAM AND ISHMAEL SERVED AS THE CENTRE OF A MONOTHEISTIC RELIGION DEDICATED TO THE ONE TRUE GOD - ALLAH. THE COLONY SET UP BY ISHMAEL FLOURISHED AND HIS DESCENDANTS CAME TO OCCUPY A PROMINENT ROLE IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE TEMPLE. CENTURIES PASSED AWAY AND THE PEOPLE, EXPOSED TO THE IDOLATRY OF NEIGHBOURING NATIONS, GRADUALLY FORGOT THE DIVINE MESSAGE, DEVIATING FROM THE PATH OF MONOTHEISM. IDOLS OF WOOD AND STONE AND OF VARIOUS SHAPES AND SIZES WERE SET UP AND THE PEOPLE PROPITIATED THESE FOR MATERIAL GAIN. THESE DEITIES WERE INITIALLY REGARDED AS INTERMEDIARIES BETWEEN THE ONE TRUE GOD AND HIS WORSHIPPERS, BUT GRADUALLY SUPPLANTED HIM IN THE MINDS OF IGNORANT MEN. ALLAH REMAINED A LARGELY ABSTRACT DEITY, OVERSHADOWED BY THE OTHER FALSE GODS, BUT NEVERTHELESS REGARDED AS THE HEAD OF THE HEATHEN PANTHEON.

THERE WAS HUBAL AND LAT AND MANAT, IN FACT NO LESS THAN 360 IDOLS DESECRATING THE COURTYARD OF THE KAA’BA. ACCORDING TO AL-MAS'UDI, THE AUTHOR OF THE MURUJ AL-DHAHAB (C.10TH CENTURY), THE KAA’BA WAS AT ONE TIME A TEMPLE DEVOTED TO THE SUN, MOON AND THE FIVE PLANETS, IN OTHER WORDS AN ASTRAL CULT AS IS SUGGESTED BY THE 360 IDOLS (REPRESENTING THE 360 DAYS OF THE YEAR) PLACED ROUND THE KAA’BA IN PAGAN TIMES. WE KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT EVEN IN THE SECOND CENTURY A.D. MAKKAH OCCUPIED A PROMINENT PLACE IN THE RELIGIOUS LIFE OF ARABIA. PTOLEMY, IN HIS GEOGRAPHY, MENTIONS A MACORABA IN PLACE OF MAKKAH. THERE CAN BE LITTLE DOUBT THAT THE APPELLATION IS CONNECTED TO THE STANDARD ARABIC TERM MIHRAB 'PRAYING PLACE' OR THE SOUTHERN ARABIC MIKRAB 'TEMPLE'.THIS ONLY GOES ON TO SHOW THE IMPORTANT PLACE THE KAA’BA OCCUPIED EVEN IN PRE-ISLAMIC TIMES.

THE PROPHET'S (PBUH) MISSION
MAKKAH HAD BECOME A GREAT CENTRE OF ARABIAN PAGANISM AT THE TIME OF THE BIRTH OF THE MUHAMMED  (PBUH) IN 570 A.D.THE QURAISH TRIBE WHICH WAS OF THE HOUSE OF ISHMAEL SERVED AS THE CUSTODIANS OF THE KAA’BA AND WERE BOTH FEARED AND RESPECTED BY THE OTHER ARAB TRIBES. IT WAS THEY WHO PROVIDED FOOD, WATER, CLOTHING AND ACCOMMODATION TO THE PILGRIMS WHO WERE ATTRACTED TO THE SPOT DURING THE ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE SEASON FROM ALL CORNERS OF ARABIA. YET THEY WERE ALSO AN ARROGANT LOT. THEY CALLED THEMSELVES THE HUMS, WHICH MEANS 'STRICTLY RELIGIOUS' AND LOOKED DOWN UPON THE OTHER TRIBES. IT DEPENDED ON THE DISCRETION OF THE HUMS TO PROVIDE THE PILGRIMS WITH CLOTHING AND THOSE WHOM THEY DID NOT FAVOUR WOULD PERFORM THE CIRCUMAMBULATION ROUND THE KAA’BA NAKED. SUCH WAS THE STATE OF AFFAIRS IN THE HOLY HOUSE DURING THE TIME OF THE PROPHET'S (PBUH) YOUTH.

WHEN MUHAMMED (PBUH) RECEIVED THE DIVINE CALL AND BEGAN HIS MISSION ON HIS FORTIETH YEAR, THE MAKKANS WERE NOT SLOW TO PERSECUTE HIM AND HIS FOLLOWERS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY TOO BELONGED TO THE TRIBE OF QURAISH. THE OLD GUARD OF THE QURAISH DEEMED THE NEW FAITH A THREAT TO THEIR TRADITIONAL WAYS AND THEIR FALSE GODS. MANY OF THE EARLY MUSLIMS WERE MARTYRED AND THINGS TOOK SUCH A SERIOUS TURN THAT THE PROPHET (PBUH) HIMSELF HAD TO TAKE FLIGHT TO MADINA IN THE YEAR 622 . MADINA WHICH WAS PEOPLED BY THE AWS AND KHAZRAJ TRIBES WELCOMED THE PROPHET (PBUH) AND HIS FOLLOWERS WITH OPEN ARMS, AND IT WAS NOT LONG BEFORE THE FIRST ISLAMIC CITY-STATE WAS ESTABLISHED THERE. EIGHT YEARS WERE TO PASS BEFORE MAKKAH FINALLY FELL TO THE PROPHET (PBUH) AND HIS 10,000 - STRONG ARMY. A GENERAL AMNESTY WAS PROCLAIMED AND THE MAKKANS WHO HAD A FEW YEARS EARLIER SO RUTHLESSLY PERSECUTED THE PROPHET (PBUH) AND HIS FOLLOWERS, NOW RUSHED TO EMBRACE ISLAM OF THEIR OWN ACCORD.

"GOD HAS MADE THIS TOWN A SANCTUARY", THE PROPHET (PBUH) IS SAID TO HAVE DECLARED ON THE DAY OF THE CONQUEST OF MAKKAH. "ITS THORNY BUSHES ARE NOT TO BE CUT NOR ITS GAME CHASED". THUS, PROTECTION WAS OFFERED NOT ONLY TO MEN, BUT ALSO FLORA AND FAUNA, FOR THEN AND FOR ALL TIME. IT WAS ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT THE PAGANS WERE NOT TO APPROACH THE KAA’BA OR TO PERFORM THE PILGRIMAGE NAKED. THE PROPHET (PBUH) IN HIS ICONOCLASTIC ZEAL IS SAID TO HAVE PERSONALLY DESTROYED THE IDOLS, STRIKING THEM WITH HIS ROD SO THAT THEY FELL TO THE GROUND. IT WAS THUS THAT THE NOBLE SANCTUARY WAS PURGED OF ALL VESTIGES OF HEATHENDOM AND DEDICATED ONCE AGAIN TO THE WORSHIP OF THE ONE TRUE GOD. THE NOBLE QUR'AN MADE IT CLEAR THAT THE PILGRIMAGE WAS TO CONTINUE AS A DUTY, MANKIND OWED TO GOD. "PROCLAIM TO MANKIND THE HAJ" SAYS THE HOLY BOOK" THEY WILL COME TO YOU ON FOOT AND ON EVERY LEAN CAMEL, THROUGH DEEP AND DISTANT MOUNTAIN HIGHWAYS".

Jannah

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH – THE SOURCE OF MERCY – THE MOST MERCIFUL

Have you ever tasted Jannah?

In Saheeh Muslim (187), Ibn Masood narrates from Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alahi wa sallam - the warming story of the last man to escape Hellfire:

His crawl away from Jahannam/Hellfire is filled with face slips into the dirt, a tremorring walk, and a fire that licks him until he finally escapes. When he is past it, he looks back, horrified, and announces with the loudest voice, "All praise is due to Allah Who saved me from you." Then he says, most proud, "Verily I have been rewarded with something that no one from the beginning to the end of creation has been blessed with." At that moment, a tree glimpses his eye, a tree that was commanded to be raised for him. He quickly raises his hands, "O Allah! Allow me to draw near to that tree so that I can cool off under its shade and drink from its water." Then Allah ta'ala calls him, "O son of Adam! I fear that if I grant you what you ask you shall ask for more." "Nay, O Allah!" pleads the man and testifies that he shall ask no more.

As the man basks in the glory of the tree, another tree is raised, one more bounteous and lush. The man pleads, "O Allah! Allow me to draw near to that tree so that I can cool off under its shade and drink from its water. Allah then says, "Did you not promise me that you would ask no more? Perhaps if I give it to you, you shall ask for yet more." The man testifies that he will not and is permitted that tree. Just then a tree is raised near the doors of Jannah, one bigger and lusher than all the rest. The man's heart sinks. "O Allah, that tree, that tree, I'll ask for nothing else." "Did you not promise you would ask for nothing more?" "After that tree, yaa Allah, nothing more." He is permitted to draw nearer to the tree and there as he nears the doors of Jannah he hears the sounds of it's inhabitants and he leaps, "O Allah! Enter me into Jannah!"

"O son of Adam!" Allah announces, "What shall satisfy you and finish your pleading." Then Allah offers, "Will it please you if I give you all the treasures and bounty of the entire world and then double it!" The man's smile shuts off and his eyes lock up. "My Lord, you're the Lord of
the universe...Are you mocking me?"

... Ibn Masood started laughing. He told his students, "Ask me why I'm laughing. I'm laughing because Rasul Allah laughed when he told us this. And he also asked us, 'Do you know what makes me laugh? I'm laughing for Allah's laughter when he said, "You are the lord of the universe..are you mocking me?"

Allah then tells him, "I'm am not mocking you, rather I am capable of doing whatever I so wish." Allahu Akbar!

Turn to almost every page of the Quran and you'll find mention of Jannah. Jannah...have you ever seen it? Have you ever smelt it? Have you ever touched it? Have you ever tasted it?

Rasul Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - taught us that in Jannah is that "which no eye has witnessed, no ear has heard, and that which has never been imagined by any human." Recite the verse if you wish: [And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort of the eye (satisfaction) as reward for what they used to do.]- Surah As Sajdah

Many Muslims tasted the Iman of Jannah. Bilal Radi Allahu 'anhu, was one of them. His slave master Umayyah would drag Bilal out to the grilling desert at noontime the fiercest moments of the day. Umayyah would press Bilal to the scalding ground and place a boulder on top of his chest to increase the torture. As his back would melt away Bilal would say nothing but, "Ahad, Ahad One, only One". Later in his life, companions would see Bilal's scarred back, tears would well in their eyes and they would ask him how he survived the punishment.

Listen to his answer: "The pain of punishment mixed with the sweetness of Iman. I tasted both and the sweetness of Iman overcame everything until I felt no more pain."

Today, let us sample Jannah, as offered to us in the Qur'an and Sunnah.

The Gates of Jannah

Imagine yourself present on the day when the gates of Jannah open with the entire splendor that lies beyond it.

Allah tells us in the Qur'an when the Muttaqoon are escorted to the gates of Jannah by the most handsomest of Angels: [And those who feared their Lord will be led to the Garden in crowds, until behold they arrive there. Its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say, 'Peace be upon you! You have done well, so enter (Jannah) and live in it eternally.']

Rasul Allah sal Allahu alahi wa sallam, spoke to the Sahaabah about the gates of Jannah. He mentioned the gate of prayers, the gate of Jihad, the gate of Siyam, and the gate of charity.

Abu Bakr asked with the desire that took him to where he reached in Iman, "Fidaaka Abee wa Umee, will anyone be called from all gates?"

Rasul Allah sal Allahu alahi wa sallam said, "Yes, and I hope that you will be one of them."

The Shade in Jannah

Imagine yourself in Jannah, cooling shade, water springs surrounding you, and fruits dipping in hands reach.

Allah tells us: [Indeed, the Muttaqoon will be amid shades and springs / And fruits from whatever they desire / "Eat and drink to your hearts content for what you used to do (in the Dunya) / Such we certainly reward the doers of good.]- Surah al-Mursalaat 77/41-44

The Ambience in Jannah

Imagine yourself face shining with joy, glad that you woke up for Fajr all those days, glad you paid your Zakah, and glad you wore Hijaab all those summer days. This is what the atmosphere is like in Jannah: [Faces that day will be joyful (radiant) * Satisfied with the effort that put (in the Dunya) * In an elevated garden * Where they shall hear no unsuitable speech.]- Surah Al-Ghaashiyah 88/8-11

Jannah doesn't have any gossip, no 'did you hear about brother so and so' 'did you see what sister so and so is wearing'.

The inhabitants of Jannah: [You can tell in their faces the radiance of the blessing]
The inhabitants of Jannah shall be in: [Gardens and rivers]
The inhabitants of Jannah are: [Most pleased with what Allah gave them from His bounty.]

Dear brothers and sisters, Jannah is the fruit of a seed planted in this Dunya. It is the retirement package that you save up in all your years of work.

There once lived a pious man who was enslaved to a wicked master. The righteous slave wanted to teach his master a lesson that he would not forget, a lesson that would make him change his ways. The Master told him one day to plant wheat. The slave took the opportunity. He went and collected seeds of barley and planted them. As the season drew near, the master was enraged to see that after all this work and time the slave had planted the wrong seed. In his thrashing rage, he scolded the slave saying, "Why did you do this?" The righteous slave said, "I had hope that the barley seeds would come out as wheat." The Master said, "How can you plant barley seeds and expect it to come out as wheat?" The slave stopped and said quietly, "How can you disobey Allah and expect for His bounteous mercy? How can you openly challenge his Deen and hope for Jannah." The Master was stunned and silent. He understood. "You have taught me something today that I had never realized. You are free for the sake of Allah."

There is no home for a man after death except that which he used to build before he died. If he built it with bricks of good deeds, then the architecture shall come out beautiful. And if he built it with evil, It's architecture will fall into ruin

Dear brothers and sisters, do you know what the greatest blessing for the inhabitants of Jannah are?  Don't let any laziness in Salah block you from being here. Don't let anything, ANYTHING stand between you and this blessing:

Rasul Allah sal Allahu alahi wa sallam told us, "When the inhabitants of Jannah enter Jannah, Allah will ask them all, 'Is there anything that I can give you more?' They will say, 'Have you not illuminated our faces? Have you not entered us into Jannah? Have you not saved us from Hellfire?'

Then Allah will uncover the veil (and all shall see Allah). After that moment there would nothing more beloved to them than seeing their Lord." narrated by Bukhari and Muslim. Lets go home today driving towards Jannah!
